The general Gemini check, including Keep Activity, the Sources button and the role of your Google Maps listing, is in how to check if Gemini names your cafe. This piece covers what changes for a spa.
Start from trust, then the treatment
Spa customers in both cities tend to lead with trust before anything else. In the Dubai thread and two Abu Dhabi threads (August 2025, July 2026), people asked for somewhere legit, then narrowed by price level, by separate facilities for women and men, by treatment, and by area or mall.
Build four question pairs in that shape, one per thing your customers ask about, using only treatments and policies your spa actually has. Leave your spa's name out. Each pair keeps the wording and swaps only the area and the city. These are starting points to adjust, not expected answers.
Dubai: "professional spa in Al Barsha, Dubai, not a scam"
Abu Dhabi: "professional spa in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, not a scam"
Dubai: "ladies-only hammam in Al Barsha, Dubai"
Abu Dhabi: "ladies-only hammam in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi"
Dubai: "deep tissue massage open late in Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai"
Abu Dhabi: "deep tissue massage open late in Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi"
Dubai: "couples massage near Dubai Hills Mall"
Abu Dhabi: "couples massage near Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi"
Run the Dubai set and the Abu Dhabi set as two separate sessions. An area name belongs to its own city, and "in Dubai" or "in Abu Dhabi" stays in every question.
Note the conditions before you ask
Gemini's answers about places draw on public information from Google Maps, and if you connect Google Search services to Gemini through Personal Intelligence, Google says your Search and Maps data can shape its recommendations. Your own phone, signed in to the account you use for the spa's listing, is not a neutral seat. Write down what the setup was, so the second run can match it.
For each question, record:
City and area: Date, phone or laptop, signed in or not, Keep Activity on or off, location shared or not, Search and Maps connected under Personal Intelligence or not: Did the answer show links or Sources: yes / no Question: My spa named: yes / no Named instead, and which type: Place card shown: yes / no, and for which spa: Sources shown, and what they were:
Sort who was named instead
The forum replies show who people suggest. Use the same groups for Gemini's answer:
- A hotel spa.
- A chain with several branches.
- A deal or booking app.
- A home-service company or app.
- Another single-location spa.
An answer that says "go to a 5-star hotel" without naming one is a result as well. Record it as its own type: for that question, no independent spa was put forward. Being passed over for a hotel spa and being passed over for a deal app are different problems.
Read the place cards and the Sources
Gemini can show a place's name as a link or a preview card that opens its details. Note whether a card appeared and whose it was. Then open Sources, which Google says appear when sources are available, and record what they were: a Google Business Profile or Maps page, a booking or deal site, a hotel spa page, a directory, or your own treatment pages. Not every answer has sources, and "none shown" is a valid entry.
Forum threads deserve some caution. In the Dubai thread, some replies promoted home-service companies and gave WhatsApp numbers. If a page like that is cited, write down who posted it.
Check the Maps listing Gemini reads
Since Gemini reads public Maps information, open your Google Business Profile and compare it with how the spa actually runs: the category, the hours, whether it is for women, men or both, the treatments, the photos and the description. Then look at the listings of spas Gemini did name, and note what they say that yours leaves out. Compare content, not ratings or review counts.
In August 2026 Google said Ask Maps was rolling out in over 150 countries and territories in English, without naming the UAE. This check stays in the Gemini app.
Run it again on another day
A few days later, ask the same questions in new chats, with the same device and settings as your note. Compare names, types and sources across the two runs instead of counting them into a score.
If you edit the listing before the second run, write down the edit and the date. A new mention after it is not proof of cause, and no check can make Gemini recommend your spa.
The same check in ChatGPT is written for restaurants and car washes, and in Claude for salons.
Whereon runs this check for one spa location and returns a plan; you or your team carry it out. Your first look is the four question pairs for your own city, asked on two separate days.
