How to check if ChatGPT names your restaurant in Dubai or Abu Dhabi

A guest does not search for your restaurant. They ask ChatGPT for a kind of meal, in a neighbourhood, for a reason: dinner tonight, Friday lunch, a table outside. The answer names a few places. This is how to see whether yours is one of them, for the one location you run.

Do it twice. Once for Dubai, once for Abu Dhabi. Keep the two answers apart. A result in one city says nothing about the other.

Ask the way a diner asks

Do not type your restaurant's name. That only checks whether the model can recall your page. The guest who has never heard of you will not ask it.

Put three things in the question.

The cuisine, or the kind of meal. The neighbourhood, not "UAE" and not the whole city if you can name the area. The occasion: Friday brunch, a late dinner, outdoor seating, a birthday.

These two lines are wording to adapt, not results. Use the meal you actually serve, and the neighbourhood of your location.

Dubai: "Where can I get Lebanese food in Al Fahidi for dinner tonight?"

Abu Dhabi: "Where can I get Lebanese food in Al Zahiyah for dinner tonight?"

Ask each one in its own chat. If you have a restaurant in only one city, that city's answer is the one that matters. Still run the other city once, with a neighbourhood you do not serve, so you can see that the list is not yours.

Write down two things, nothing else

Copy the question. Then from the answer keep:

Every name, in the order it appeared. If your restaurant is there, mark it. If it is not, write "absent." The other names are the point. They are who was offered instead of you.

Whether a source is shown. A link, a guide, a review, a listing. If a page is attached, copy the page. If the answer names restaurants and shows nothing, write "no source shown." Do not guess the page later.

A blank note looks like this. Fill it from your own chat. Do not borrow names from a "best restaurants" article and treat them as the model's answer.

City:
Question:
Names, in order:
My restaurant: named / absent
Source shown: page, or "no source shown"

That is the whole record. One try, one note. No score.

Read the Dubai note and the Abu Dhabi note separately

"In Dubai" and "in Abu Dhabi" are different questions. A neighbourhood in one city is not a neighbourhood in the other. The model is not holding a single UAE list and swapping the city.

The pages people already publish about the two cities point at different rooms. A page about Dubai names Dubai rooms. A page about Abu Dhabi names Abu Dhabi rooms. Those are web pages, not a ChatGPT answer. They only show that the two cities are not one list.

So a note that names you for dinner in your Dubai neighbourhood is about that question only. It does not say whether a guest in Abu Dhabi would be sent to you. Leave the other city's names on their own line.

What to do with the note

Open the source, if one was shown. Check three facts on that page. Is your restaurant on it? Are the restaurants the model named on it? Does it describe the city and the meal you asked about, or a different one?

If your name is missing from a page the answer cited, that page is a concrete gap for this question. It is not proof that adding your name will make the next answer include you. It is the place to look first.

If the answer showed no source, you still have the names. Those are the restaurants a guest was offered for that wording, in that city, in that chat. You cannot see where the list came from. Do not invent a reason.

If you ask the same question again later and the same names come back with the same source, keep the second note next to the first. Still do not turn two tries into a percentage. This check does not say how often you are named, and it does not cover any assistant except ChatGPT. Measuring how often you are named is a different check: how to measure AI visibility for a local business.

Whereon runs this kind of question more than once and keeps the other names and the sources, for the city of the location. The first look is the two notes above.
